About Wild Planet & Planet Scuba

The Wild Planet is one of Thailand's premier adventure operators & consultants. Our parent company, Samui International Diving School, has operated in Thailand for over 20 years. Wild Planet & our scuba diving company Planet Scuba are the Bangkok/Chiang Mai-based part of this operation and began trading 8 years ago. Since then we have successfully run hundreds of activity-based trips throughout Thailand both water and land based.

As well as serving the local community and in-bound tourists, we also specialize in creating tailor-made programmes for Thailand's international schools in both adventure-based and diving-based activities. It has been proved that the enrichment of a student's life outside of the classroom increases their chances of performing better inside it. The aim of our programmes is to help personal development through challenge, team-work, field-study projects and a stimulating environment that forces students to think in a different way to when they are in the classroom.

While we use our experience to advise you of the adventure based aspects, all of our programmes are arrived at after discussing the requirements of each individual client.

Our skills and professionalism has also been recognized outside of Thailand. We were the Thailand operations team for Exodus, prior to their takeover by First Choice and move to the mainstream, Exodus were a world-leader in adventure eco-tourism. (We operated approx 25 eighteen day expeditions per year, both discovery and mountain bike itineraries) In addition we are the Thailand organizational and safety representatives for World Challenge Expeditions, a UK-based organization that takes school children to different parts of the world for month-long educational tours. 2002 saw us welcome 14 groups of approx 16 students for whom we organized a month spent traveling and adventuring in Thailand.

Recently we have moved into the corporate market and have operated a number of trips using adventure as a management training tool and team building stratagem. This approach is something new, having been developed in part over the last few years by organizations such as Outward Bound and Project Adventure and is proving to be an effective and fun means of employee interactment and team building.

All of these programmes are supervised and managed personally be our own highly trained and carefully selected team of both expatriate and Thai staff. We pride ourselves on having an exemplary safety record. While many of our itineraries are adventurous, the well being of the participants is always our top priority and it goes without saying that all trips, residential programs and expeditions are covered by a comprehensive insurance policy.

It is our policy that all of our staff undergo first aid training courses and examinations, including CPR, through the Medic First Aid course of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. These skills are reviewed every year. Many of our staff are also fully qualified professional diving instructors with many years experience behind them. Our staff are keen outdoor enthusiasts with an intimate knowledge of the medium in which they are working.
