2 STAR Kayaking Course
Course Description
Learn the intermediate skills of kayaking under the guidance of our well-trained and experienced coaches. This is an intermediate course where participants refine the basic skills and knowledge acquired during the 1 STAR course, and pick up more paddling skills such as the Eskimo Bow Rescue, Low and High Brace Recovery and the T-X Rescue. Participants will also gain more in-depth theoretical knowledge about Rivers, Tides and Currents aa well as expedition planning and execution.
Prerequisites
- 1 STAR certification
- A desire to learn more about kayaking
- Minimum 10 participants
- Participants must be at least 12 years old
- Swimming ability is preferred but not essential as all participants will wear Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs)
Includes
- Single training kayak
- Use of Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs)
- 2 STAR Certificate endorsed by the British Canoe Union upon successfully passing the course

18 hours (3 sessions of 6 hours each)
