3 STAR Kayaking Training Course
Course Description
Learn the advanced skills of kayaking under the guidance of our well-trained and experienced coaches. This is a proficiency (training) course where participants are equipped with the full range of skills for paddling in local waters. Participants will learn advance paddling skills like the Eskimo Roll and various rescue and towing techniques. This is our highest personal skills award. Participants will also gain more in-depth theoretical knowledge about rievrs as well as expedition planning and execution. They are also required to work as a team to plan and execute a 10-km expedition during the course.
Prerequisites
- 2 STAR certification
- A desire to learn more about kayaking
- A Minimum 6 participants to start a class; and a maximum of 8 participants to maintain quality
- Participants must be at least 12 years old
- Swimming ability is preferred but not essential as all participants will wear Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs)
Includes
- Single training or sea kayak
- Use of Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) and paddle
- Use of spray skirt for intermediate skills
- Use of accessories (e.g. towing gear)
- Mentoring and feedback process to attain certification
- A Certificate of Participation upon completing of the training course
How long will it take?
A minimum of 28 hours over 4 sessions.
