This convenient tour package will bring you from Chiangmai to the small provincial town of Pai where our Thai Adventure Rafting Base camp is located. From there, embark a rafting expeditions on the Pai River taking participants on 60 kms of river, with over 60 rapids. The Pai River cuts through scenic wilderness, through remote Mae Hong Son province. Bordering a wildlife sanctuary, our Pai River expedition guarantees our clients an unforgettable adventure trip!

Itinerary
Day 1 - Chiang Mai - Pai
From Chiang Mai, transfer by air conditioned vehicle on mountain roads to Pai valley, passing through spectacular scenery. Reach your overnight place, a peaceful resort in the Pai valley. Afternoon is free for you to discover this charming small town. You can visit a hot spring, a waterfall, or just stroll in the local market or in the city center. Dinner and overnight at the resort.

Day 2 - Rafting
08:00-08:30 Our Thai Adventure vehicle will meet you at your hotel to be transferred to our Pai base camp. Have a tea or coffee while our staff will make the last preparation. We separate luggage in small individual bags, which are stored into our sturdy dry bags to be taken on the expedition. A explicit briefing on safety and paddling techniques follow as well as remittance of helmets and life-jackets. Then we transfer by vehicle for 45 minutes to the put in point on the Pai River. Our sturdy rafts are ready on the river bank with our experienced captains, which will conduct you through the expedition. Board the rafts and paddle down river, making a stop for lunch on the river bank. After lunch it is time to encounter some larger rapids as the "Nam Hom" rapid, which can become a "class V" during high water level. The river cuts through beautiful scenery and takes you to our jungle camp where you will spend the night. The jungle camp is very basic, but offers a squat down toilet and a separate shower. You will sleep either in tents or on a bamboo platform under mosquito net. Sleeping gear as sleeping bags and foam mats are provided. Dinner at the camp is prepared by your guides, which all will enjoy. Eventually one can try some local delicacies with your guides also.

Day 3 - Rafting - Mae Hong Son
At 8:00 a delicious breakfast is served, with coffee and tea. Then we board the rafts and continue or expedition through this scenic area. As you come to the junction with another river (Nam Khong) we encounter more rapids and swells! Raft through a number of different sets of rapids, with slow moving section in between. Picnic lunch on the river bank, followed by a slower moving section when we reach the valley and our raft ending point. Toilet facilities and shower available, where we meet our vehicle. Transfer to Mae Hong Son airport for a short flight back to Chiangmai (45 minutes), where our trip ends.

Note: this tour ends at Chiang Mai Airport. Flights from Mae Hong Son are often fully booked, so we recommend that you book this trip early!
Extension Possibilities: At the end of the rafting trip you can stay in Mae Hong Son for individual exploration of this charming small town. Please inquire for hotels reservation.
General Information
Our experienced raft captains will handle all aspects of your trip. They will be happy to answer any question you may have and share with you their knowledge of nature and traditions of the Mae Hong Son province.
We use strong self-bailing paddle rubber rafts and canoes.
Personal effects and belongings will travel in dry bags and watertight containers.
While on the rafts, we need to keep the weight down. We require participants to carry a minimum, approximately the size of a standard plastic carrier bag. To help you make a choice, we recommend you limit yourself to the packing list which we will provide. All your remaining personal items will be safely kept at the base camp, and transferred to the arrival point on the following day.
All food and drinks will be provided with the exception of alcoholic beverages. If you would like to bring your own along with some snacks, you are welcome to do so.
Special diet requirements: please advise us when you register if you need vegetarian meals.
Notes:
We recommend participants not to travel with, or wear any jewelry item.
Cameras and binoculars will be safely stored in watertight containers, and readily available at any time.
Participants are required to wear a life jacket and helmet whenever traveling on the rafts.
