Kayak & Snorkel, The Angthong Marine Park
Angthong National Marine Park is made up of 42 islands with dramatic walls of limestone rock. The main attractions are the small deserted beaches, the shallow warm crystal clear water, and the interesting eroded rock formations. There is also a considerable amount of wildlife including langurs, hair-nosed otters, pacific reef egrets, white-bellied sea eagles, ashy drongos, tortoises & sea turtles. On Mae Ko climbing a trail from the beach leads to an amazing turquoise-coloured saltwater lake (Thale Nai) in the cone of a long dead volcano.
Itinerary
Arrival Day: Bangkok Airways flight to Koh Samui (duration 1 hour 20 min). Arrive in Koh Samui, transfer from airport to Resort Mae Nam Beach. Evening meal with briefing. Overnight Resort.
Day Two: Breakfast, to the pool for swim tests, first session of the skin diver course. Lunch, basic kayak paddling and rescue instruction from the beach.
Day Three: Breakfast, paddle out to Koh Som (small island just offshore), day expedition and run through of kayak skills. Lunch around Koh Som. Paddle back to resort for late afternoon. Evening meal.
Day Four: Breakfast, transfer to the support boat to sail to the National Marine Park. Upon arrival we will complete the day paddling the islands of the park staying overnight in the Park Headquarters area.
Day Five: Breakfast, early rise, carrying on to explore the sea caves and the coral reefs via snorkel and kayak. Late afternoon sees us sail back to Koh Samui aboard the support boat. Evening meal and certification party.
Departure Day: Breakfast, morning at leisure. Transfer to Samui airport for flight to Bangkok.
