Residential Outdoor Adventure Sample Program
Discover Kayaking
Using our in-house fleet of double ocean going sit on top kayaks or sea touring boats we offer single or multiple expedition days at a number of locations.
We also offer tuition sessions at school and company premises. Instruction can be structured over a number of weeks leading up to an expedition, used as a one off activity day or even broken down into multiple 3 hour sessions.
Whitewater instruction is available for the more experienced and we can cover all requirements of the GCSE Phys Ed syllabus at several different locations around Thailand.
Activities
Instruction will cover the following areas: Launching, capsize and swim, forward paddling strokes, backward oaddlingm rescuing a capsized paddler from deep water, capsize drillm the theory of kayak rolling, recover strokes and sculling for support. This instruction can be carried out within the school's own pool, Initially, time is spent making the participants comfortable with entering and exiting the craft & recovery techniques.
The skills will then be practised on the lake or river. In addition the following skills will be learnt and practised: Straight line paddling noth forward and backward, tilting craft to assist turning, turning whilst on the move, reversing the craft round a figure of eight course, moving sideways, low brace support stroke, all in rescue. On river sites the participants will also learn the identification of the various features of moving water and the use of the ferry glide moving in and out of the current.
NOTE: It is not suggested that the above can be learnt in a single day. Classes can be tailored to the skill level of the participants and can also be scheduled on multiple sessions. Teaching techniques and programs are as laid down by the British Canoe Union.
