The Nam Wa River Descent
Paddling a raft through whitewater is the ultimate test of teamwork. The Nam Wa River is situated in Nan province in North Eats Thailand. The river starts in the Doi Nun mountain range flowing to Mae Charim. On its route it flows through forest and small valleys with exciting rapids giving the paddler a feeling of remoteness & adventure. The river, depending on the season, has rapids up to a mild grade 4 and provides some challenging and exciting rafting with a backdrop of lush green jungle.
Itinerary
Departure Day: Coach departs overnight to Nan (flight options available).
Day Two: Arrive early morning, breakfast in Nan. Load up the rafts and join the river. We have a nice run in to the first rapids. In between rapids the river moves at a reasonable pace allowing us to drift, relax and enjoy the lush jungle surrounding the river valley. Pull into the river bank to eat. After relaxing and exploring the surrounding flora and fauna we will continue on down river. Make camp at 16.00.
Day Three: Breakfast, after which we will re-pack the supply rafts and rejoin the river. Today the rapids are frequent, averaging grade three with the odd four. Make camp approximately 16.00.
Day Four: This morning we will finish the last rapids of this stretch of the Nam Wa. Raft teams will be able to steer the rafts with minimal input from the quides and will have the chance to choose lines of descent on the last rapids. Lunch and transfer to Nan. Wash up, dinner, overnight coach for our return to Bangkok.
Day Five: Arrive Bangkok approximately 06.00am.
